We will be broadcasting from the tattoo studio live via web-cam all this week, if you want to join in, check out www.worldtattooconvention.com, there's also an interactive chat feature, so you will be able to see and hear me and other artists from around the world as we work.
This is a new concept i don't believe its been done before, so join in and help to make it a successful one.
its on from the 16th to the 20th of December, 24 Hours a day. We will be broadcasting sporadically throughout the day and evenings (central Canada time zone).

These prints are each done by hand, using different inks and paper, making each of these prints a unique original work of art.
The best ones were selected out of many printed and were given my personal signature of approval.

Toronto 2009

I just got back from Toronto where I attended the Northern Ink Xposure tattoo convention once again. I had a great time and was very busy all weekend tattooing and visiting with old friends.
Alex and I actually arrived in Toronto on Tuesday, a few days before the convention so that we could participate in an art fusion event at the Berkley Cathedral.
Lets back up a couple of weeks first....
At the beginning of May, Alex and I received two plaster skulls in the mail, these were sent out to about 45 artists each of which were asked to decorate the skull however they saw fit. The skulls would later be put on display and up for auction to support a Toronto children's arts program.
So back to the event now... the skulls that everybody made were put on display at this old cathedral and Alex and I along with Paul Booth, Glen Paradis, Hailin Fu and Joe Hegarty, did a big acrylic painting in front of what was a party for music industry folks kicking off the North By Northeast music festival which was on in Toronto at the same time we were there.
Later the skulls were put on display for the duration of the tattoo convention in the lobby of the Hilton hotel. The skulls all sold in an exciting auction situation with people shouting out bids at the last minute.
The Toronto convention is always fun, if you can, I recommend you check it out sometime, it's every June.

Adventures in Switzerland and Evian

Well, last month I went on yet another trip to Switzerland to visit my old friends the Leu family.
This time however, I made a stop along the way in Evian, France to attend the tattoo convention there.
The convention was really fun and busy, I enjoyed this one alot. There were a few familiar faces to me there but for the most part I had the pleasure of making alot of new acquaintances at this one.
I did a couple of skull tattoos and worked on this sleeve that I had started in Milano a few months previous.
Evian was a nice place, very picturesque, I wanted to go and drink water from the source of Evian water but it was closed, oh well maybe next time.
After the convention I took a boat across lake Geneva to Lausanne, Switzerland, where I found some of the folks from the convention hanging out at The Leu Family's Family Iron tattoo shop. It was a great end to the tattoo convention weekend.
Thank you to Dats, who organized the tattoo convention for being a great host.
In the week that followed I went and stayed with Filip, Titine and Loretta in there cool funky old house in Swiss farm country where we wrote and recorded music most of the rest of the week.
It was a great relaxing and creative time.
Oh, did I mention I helped them move 7 tonnes of wood. hahaha
At the end of the week Filip and I went into Lausanne once again to work on a collaborative backpiece. Jesse Tseronis (aka Jesse Winchester) flew in from his home in Winchester, Virginia to have Filip and I start his back together.
Considering that it was a rather large cover up, Filip and I discussed various ideas of what to do and in the end we decided to do a giant dragon claw clutching a black pearl with a skull and snakes within the pearl surrounded by swirling water on his butt and lightning coming off of the pearl.
It all went well and we were able to complete the black work for the piece in about 5 hours.
We will both work on it individually to complete it or perhaps get together again on it sometime, who knows?
To cap things off, the next day before my flight home, Filip finished the tattoo on my leg that he's been working on, it's an abstract piece taken from one of his paintings. I will post pictures of the tattoo in a later post when its all settled in and I can get good pictures of it.
Anyway that was my trip, here are some pictures...

Beijing 2008

Last week I was in Beijing, China. I went there for a tattoo convention organized by the China Association of Tattoo Artists. I had a great time meeting alot of new people and seeing some incredible tattoo work at the convention. There are some amazing tattoo artists in China! It was my first time in China and together with a small group from North America, we took in some of the sites, and experienced as much of Beijing culture as we could, we had alot of fun times and alot of laughs.
Thank you to Kisen Wang for inviting us all to come to China and for being such a great host.

Toronto Tattoo Convention #10 and Art for the Human Canvas
